F clamps are handy little things that hold things in place when we are working. But we should be careful in how we use them. Vampire fusion How about we learn what not to clamp using those F clamps so we can keep all our projects out of harm’s way.
Delicate or Fragile Materials
Some materials are sensitive or brittle. We will damage / break them quite easily if we grip them too hard. Which is one reason why we shouldn’t be clamping delicate or fragile things with an f clamp. Instead, we have our hands to keep them in place as we work on them.

Uneven or Curved Surfaces
F clamps don’t work well on irregular or rounded surfaces. The flat surfaces of the clamp may not get enough purchase, and it may slip from external forces. Better not to clamp uneven or curved surfaces, and try a different tool that makes more sense.
Overly Compressed Materials
When we glue things together, we want to hold them in place, but not so strongly that they won’t come apart. If we squeeze them too hard, they can collapse or squish or deform and ruin our project. To prevent this happening, we need to steer clear of applying too much pressure to the f clamp welding. (It is a good idea to try the clamp on a scrap piece of material first, to ensure it’s not too tight.
Thin or Flimsy Materials
Thin or soft materials can be marred when clamped by F clamps. The pressure can be too much and cause them to bend or break, which would mean our project could not be completed. Prevent this from occurring by not clamping thin or flexible products. Not something we own, so instead I've found that I can use clips or tape to keep it in place while we work.

Heat-Sensitive Materials
Heat can influence certain materials in other ways too. When it comes to holding these heat-sensitive materials down, welding f clamps expose the metal parts of the clamp to this amount of heat for an extended period of time, and that’s not a good thing. To protect our materials, we don’t want to clamp off our heat-sensitive materials in favor of other methods to hold them together.
In summary, understanding what we should avoid clamping with an F clamp is just as important to keep our projects safe. By steering clear of delicate, fragile, uneven or curved surfaces - and all the other time-wasters we can smile when we run our ink over some paper. Just a reminder to use the correct tool for the job and treat materials with care. With the help of these hacks, we can jolly work on our projects and develop awesome things.
